My name is Diana Mendoza and I am a 21-year-old student attending The University of Texas in Arlington. I am majoring in Journalism and minoring in Spanish and Communication Technology.  As a child, I discovered my love for cooking shows. I would watch them on Saturdays on PBS. Then, I discovered Food Network. I would tune in everyday at 3p.m to watch Giada De Laurentiis cook a mouth-watering Italian meal. I even went as far as to host my own cooking shows in my kitchen, when no one was around of course. From there I knew I wanted to be a chef and have my own show like Giada.

My goals for the near future are to graduate and possibly work for a newspaper or magazine publication in my town. I would really love to work for Food Network one day, even if I start out delivering mail. I would love to visit Italy, specifically Florence. I want to know about the city, the culture, the people, and the history of such a beautiful place.

Journalism has taught me to be insightful, observant and to ask many questions. I have grown to appreciate the art of writing, because it is truly an art form. I enjoy sharing my new discoveries with people and spark interest in their lives.
